A poor family, the Kims, living in a cramped apartment in Seoul, dream of escaping poverty. The son, Ki-woo, gets a tutoring job with a wealthy family, the Parks, by lying about his education. He recommends his friend, "Jessica," who is actually his sister, to be the art therapist for the Parks' son.
