Michael, a clumsy pre-teen, moves to the countryside with his father, Dave. He struggles to fit in with his new classmates, but befriends Leakey, a jock, and a fellow nature lover. In a garden shed, Michael discovers a strange, weak man with owl wings, who becomes his friend. He helps the man regain strength and rescues him when his father burns down the shed.
