In the small, racially divided town of Odessa, Texas, Friday Night football is a beacon of hope. The Permian Panthers, led by QB Mike Winchell and tailback Boobie Miles, have a winning tradition, but Boobie's career-ending injury in the first game of the season seems to crush the town's spirit. Coach Gary Gaines, however, inspires the team to rise from the ashes and make a remarkable comeback, leading them on a path to state and a chance to prove themselves.
