In 1976, Flint, Michigan, three men chase their dreams. Jackie Moon's struggling ABA team is in last place, but he hopes to merge with the NBA. Monix, a former Celtics champion, joins the team to be close to his love Lynn. Clarence "Coffee" Brown, the team's best player, wants stardom but prioritizes individual success over teamwork. When they learn the merger won't include their team, they band together to achieve the impossible.
