Albany-based private detective Donald Strachey gains notoriety after an article in the Advocate. He's hired by scared young Paul Hale to find someone, but Paul is soon found dead, with the police unofficially believing he was murdered. Donald wants to find the killer and uncovers a connection to the Phoenix Foundation, which practices repairative therapy to "cure" homosexuality.
