Two hapless outlaws from The Apple Dumpling Gang attempt to strike out on their own, but their misadventures quickly unfold in a small town. They inadvertently capture the town's notorious sheriff, Wooly Bill Hitchcock, sparking his pursuit. Accused of bank robbery, they join the Army, only to accidentally burn down the fort. Meanwhile, the Army is plagued by a thief stealing their supplies.
