Bullets Over Broadway

In the 1920s, playwright David Shayne wants to direct his new play, "God of Our Fathers", but his lack of directing experience makes it hard to find investors. Enter Nick Valenti, a powerful mobster who finances the production on one condition: his girlfriend Olive Neal gets the lead role. David and his producer Julian reluctantly agree, hoping the other actors will make up for Olive's limitations. However, Olive's presence is complicated by her constant bodyguard Cheech, who is always watching. Meanwhile, the rest of the cast has their own issues: Helen Sinclair, the lead actress, is trying to make the role more glamorous, Warner Purcell, the only male actor, has a weight problem, and Eden Brent, a happy-go-lucky actress, brings her pet chihuahua to rehearsals. As problems arise, David must decide whether to compromise his artistic vision or risk everything to stay true to his art.
