Tom Smith, a railroad executive, hires Hoppy to investigate after two of his employees, Roberts and Banks, attempt to steal his money. The plot thickens when Smith is shot and a hobo's scarf is left at the scene, implicating Lee Garvin. As Lee is falsely accused of the crime, Hoppy must devise a plan to clear his name and uncover the truth behind Smith's murder.
