In 2003, Kim Baker, a news copywriter, leaves her comfortable desk job and boyfriend to become an on-camera reporter in war-torn Afghanistan. With no real experience, she's thrust into a world of danger and uncertainty. As a woman, she faces objectification and sexism, and must navigate the challenges of everyday life. With the help of fellow correspondent Tanya and translator Fahim, Kim discovers her own voice in the press corps and must decide how much she's willing to risk for a story.
