Jean Cocteau, a poet, finds himself lost in space-time, repeatedly appearing at different moments in Professor Langevin's life. The professor has invented bullets that travel faster than light, and one of them kills Cocteau, who is then resurrected as his old self. As he navigates the boundary between fantasy and reality, Cocteau encounters Cégeste, a character from his film Orphée, who leads him to a rogatory commission. The commission sentences Cocteau to life for his constant attempts to enter a world beyond human limits, and he is ultimately killed by the goddess Athena. However, Cocteau resurrects and disappears into a rock with Cégeste, as they do not belong to life on earth.
