In 1890s Paris, a fiery romance blossoms between a struggling poet and a stunning courtesan and nightclub sensation.
In 1899, a young English writer Christian arrives in Paris to explore the city's underworld, drawn to the Moulin Rouge, a nightclub where the rich and poor mingle to watch dancers. Christian becomes embroiled in a deadly love triangle with Satine, the club's star courtesan, and the Duke, her patron, as they struggle to stay together despite the odds.
