Samantha Kinsey, a woman with a dream of becoming a detective, inherits her uncle's mystery bookshop and a mysterious clerk, Ian Philby, who is presumed to be a retired spy. After her former professor and true crime author, Jack Stenning, is murdered at a party, Samantha and her friends, including a psychic named Tracy, team up to solve the crime and prove that it was not a suicide.
