In World War II, Fania Fenelon Goldstein, a Jewish French musician and cabaret singer, is sent to Auschwitz Concentration Camp. Stripped of her belongings, she's forced to endure harsh conditions. Despite her weakness, she joins a group of musicians spared from gas chambers to entertain the Nazis, performing music for their captors.
