Aaron Pierre, a graduate of the esteemed London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA),has secured a lead role in the highly anticipated Lion King prequel for Disney, directed by Barry Jenkins. Prior to this, he portrayed Caesar in Jenkins' critically acclaimed limited series, The Underground Railroad, for Amazon, and starred in M. Night Shyamalan's film Old, where he played a rapper and also wrote and performed a song.
Pierre's professional stage debut as Cassio in Othello, opposite Mark Rylance, at Shakespeare's Globe earned him a nomination for the 2018 Ian Charleson Award. Earlier this year, he shot a three-hander alongside Saoirse Ronan in Garth Davis's Foe for Amazon Studios. Additionally, he recently completed filming the lead role in Jeremy Saulnier's Rebel Ridge for Netflix.
Pierre is set to appear as one of the leads in Clement Virgo's Brother, which is scheduled to premiere at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival.
