Alex Shimizu's early dance career began in 4th grade when he joined the National Dance Institute at Hunter College Elementary School, where he was mentored by the renowned Jacques d'Amboise. Under Jacques' guidance, Alex had the opportunity to be featured on the CBS Evening News and NPR alongside guest host, the accomplished actor Christopher Walken.
In addition to his work with Jacques, Alex has also performed Off-Broadway at Theater for a New Audience and in the film adaptation of Julie Taymor's A Midsummer Night's Dream, released in 2014. His impressive list of TV and film credits includes appearances in Person of Interest (2011),S.W.A.T. (2017),Scorpion (2014),Community (2009),and the Netflix original comedy The Outcasts (2017).
Currently residing in Los Angeles, Alex has continued to build his acting career, recuring on NBC's The Blacklist (2013) alongside James Spader and AMC's The Terror (2018) with George Takei. He is set to appear in Taika Waititi's Interior Chinatown (2024) for Hulu and has been cast as young Vince Masuka in Showtime's Dexter: Original Sin (2024),the upcoming prequel to the hit series Dexter (2006).
