Alex Trevor Barthram, born in 1979 in Leeds, England, was a studious and book-loving individual during his school days, often carrying his books in a briefcase, which became a subject of amusement among his school bullies.
As he pursued his A-Levels, Alex discovered his passion for stand-up comedy, and his talent for telling jokes and engaging with audiences led him to try his hand at stand-up. His success in the Edinburgh Festival's So You Think You're Funny competition in 1998 marked the beginning of his career in comedy.
Simultaneously, Alex had secured a place to study medicine at the University College London (UCL),which was his parents' dream for him to become a doctor. However, he decided to put his studies on hold to focus on his comedy career, and he began gigging on the comedy circuit, DJing on student radio stations, and working at London's XFM radio station.
In 2002, Alex was signed as a new presenter of MTV:UK, where he hosted the flagship show TRL and presented the movie show Screenplay, utilizing his knowledge and love of film. Today, Alex continues to host the popular show Popworld on Channel 4.
