Alexandra Lencastre, a talented and renowned Portuguese actress, was born in Lisbon in 1965. Initially, she pursued a degree in Philosophy, but her passion for the performing arts led her to abandon her academic pursuits and enroll in the Theater School (Conservatório) in Lisbon.
It was during her time at the Theater School that Lencastre began her acting career, debuting in the play "Frei Luís de Sousa" directed by Jorge Listopad, which earned her the award for Best Revelation. Since then, she has collaborated with some of the most prominent directors in Portuguese theater, including Carlos Avilez, João Lourenço, and José Wallenstein.
Lencastre's transition to television was marked by her involvement in the Portuguese adaptation of "Sesame Street." She subsequently gained widespread recognition for her work in both fiction and entertainment programming, including the popular telenovelas and the provocative interview series "In Bed With..".
In 1990, Lencastre's film career began to take off with her role in João Canijo's "Lovely Child." She went on to work with esteemed directors such as João Botelho, João Mário Grilo, and Teresa Villaverde. Her most notable success came with Fernando Lopes's "O Delfim" in 2002, which garnered both critical acclaim and commercial success.
That same year, Lencastre appeared alongside Javier Bardem in John Malkovich's "The Dancer Upstairs." In 2003, she starred in the Portuguese adaptation of the Spanish series "Ana e os Sete." Her on-screen pairing with Rogério Samora in "O Delfim" helped define a new cinematic duo in Portuguese cinema, and they reunited in Fernando Lopes's "Lá Fora" in 2004.
