Alfonso DiLuca is a Dominican-American actor, writer, and entrepreneur born in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. He is best known for his roles in TV series "Jane the Virgin" and Hispanic soap-operas like "Prisionera" and "La Viuda de Blanco". With a 25-year acting career spanning stage and screen, Alfonso has appeared in numerous TV shows, including "NCIS: New Orleans" and "Days of Our Lives".
Early Life:
Alfonso got his start in acting at the age of 10, appearing in Dominican television commercials promoting American products. He also loved writing and drawing, producing comic books that he wrote and sold to his classmates. DiLuca is fully bilingual and university-educated in both English and Spanish, allowing him to deliver a dynamic cross-cultural charm to his roles.
Family Background:
Alfonso's family was a social and artistic milieu, frequently visited by high-ranking politicians, painters, sculptors, and musicians. His mother, Nidia Cuervo, was a recognized painter in the Dominican Republic who participated in exhibitions and received awards for her work. His abuela on his mother's side was a composer of music and the first female radio newscaster in the Dominican Republic.
Career:
Alfonso began his career in the United States, studying at the prestigious university, Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC),where he received the award Primera Mención Honorífica for Poetry Writing. He then moved to Miami, Florida, where he enrolled in the International English Program at Florida State University and obtained the TOEFL certification.
DiLuca's acting career took off when he enrolled in the studio of renowned south-Florida acting coach Stewart Solomon. He quickly became one of the most respected members of the studio, receiving offers of representation and starring in several successful plays produced by the Prometeo Theater Group. He also made a name for himself in popular Latino Theater productions and landed supporting roles in Telenovelas.
In 2008, Alfonso moved to Los Angeles, where he continues to appear regularly in commercials, industrials, print ads, films, and television shows. He is also the author of numerous registered scripts, including Hispanic-themed screenplays, comedy series, pilots, and short films.
Personal Life:
Alfonso is a collector of scientific books, an avid reader, a student of languages and anthropology, and an advanced scuba diver. He has traveled to over 20 countries and is currently developing a socio-political Dominican-American feature film action/drama.
