Biography

Alma Tell, a gifted and accomplished American actress, entered the world on March 27, 1898, and embarked upon a truly remarkable and distinguished career that would span an impressive twenty-plus years, commencing in 1915 and persisting well into the early 1930s, a pivotal period marked by the significant transformation from the era of silent films to the advent of talkies, a revolutionary development that would forever alter the landscape of the film industry.

Prior to embarking on a journey that would ultimately lead her to the silver screen, Tell had the opportunity to refine her artistic skills and develop her talents as a performer through her work on the stages of New York, where she gained valuable experience and honed her craft.

It was in September 1915 that Tell made her screen debut, appearing in the drama Simon, the Jester, directed by the renowned Edward José, thus marking the beginning of a long and illustrious career in film that would span many years to come.

From the 1920s onwards, Tell's impressive career trajectory saw her share the silver screen with some of the most celebrated silent film actresses of her time, including the radiant Mae Murray, the talented Corinne Griffith, and the charming Madge Kennedy, frequently taking on the role of the second leading lady in these cinematic endeavors.

Alma Tell's remarkable cinematic career was marked by a diverse range of roles, with one of her most notable performances being her final appearance in the 1934 romantic drama "Imitation of Life", a masterpiece directed by the esteemed John M. Stahl and featuring the incomparable Claudette Colbert in a starring capacity.

Regrettably, Alma Tell's life was tragically cut short when she succumbed to mortality on December 29, 1937.
