Biography

Babak's life journey began in Tehran, Iran, just before the Iranian Revolution, which prompted his family to flee the country to avoid the impending chaos, turmoil, and cultural upheaval. At the tender age of five, his family settled in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he would spend his formative years developing a profound passion for the arts.

From a very young age, Babak was drawn to various forms of visual media, and his love for theater led him to begin performing with several workshops that toured the world, combining contemporary dance genres with theater to address social issues across cultures and languages. This early exposure to grassroots social development projects would become a lifelong passion for him.

Babak's educational background includes a Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Communications, which he pursued at Simon Fraser University, and film school at the same institution. Throughout his years, he worked behind the camera on various projects, which eventually led him to Toronto, where he spent some time and stumbled upon a career in education technology consulting with an international firm.

A twist of fate brought him to Switzerland, where he accepted the role of Assistant Director at the Information Technology Education Center, nestled on the picturesque shores of Lake Constance, bordering Germany and Austria. He would later relocate to Victoria and Montreal, marking a return to his roots in the performing arts, during which he trained at the renowned L'Atelier Orphanspace.

Currently residing in his hometown of Vancouver, Babak is grateful for the incredible projects and people he has had the privilege to work with over the years. His filmography boasts a wide range of characters, from the sobering lead role in the feature film "Tree Line" (2012),where he portrayed an Afghan-Canadian police officer grappling with the loss of his wife and children to Taliban bombings in Kandahar, to the hilarious one-liner in the MOW "Nearlyweds" (2013),where he played a concussed patient caught between a nurse and her lover.
