Person Biography:
Julius Ingster, a renowned filmmaker, was born in 1903 in Riga, Latvia, which is now part of the country. Prior to his arrival in the United States in 1930, he collaborated with the illustrious Sergei Eisenstein in Russia.
Ingster's early career in Hollywood spanned the 1930s, during which he worked as a writer for several notable films, including the biographical drama "The Story of Alexander Graham Bell". His directorial debut was the 1940 classic "Stranger on the Third Floor", in which he also made significant contributions as a writer. Two of his other notable works from this period include serving as a contributing writer for the controversial 1943 propaganda film "Song of Russia" and writing and directing the 1949 comedy "The Judge Steps Out".
As the decades progressed, Ingster shifted his focus to television, where he produced episodes for various series, including 25 episodes of the popular western drama "Wagon Train", 18 episodes of the period drama "The Roaring 20's", 11 episodes of the western series "Cheyenne", and 38 episodes of the spy thriller "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.".
Throughout his life, Ingster was married at least four times, with his spouses including Leni Stengel (married in 1930),Wilma (married in 1938),Zita Perczel (married in 1944 and remained together until her passing in 1954),and Christiane (nee Deleval, later Oshay) (married in 1955 until his death). His marriage to Christiane produced a son, Michael, born around 1962.
Sadly, Ingster passed away on August 7, 1978, in Woodland Hills, California.
