Brian's fascination with figure skating commenced at the tender age of eight, when he attended a captivating performance featuring the renowned Peggy Fleming. As he watched in awe, he became enamored with the sport, and his passion swiftly evolved into exceptional skill. In fact, he even managed to hold his own against the illustrious 1984 men's Olympic Champion, Scott Hamilton, at times giving him a run for his money.
In 1988, Brian's prowess was put to the test as he faced off against his Canadian counterpart, Brian Orser, in the highly anticipated "Battle of the Brians". His impressive performance earned him a professional contract, allowing him to skate and tour alongside some of the most talented figure skaters of his era, including the likes of Tara Lipinski, Michelle Kwan, Scott Hamilton, Paul Wylie, and Kurt Browning.
