David Castañeda is a Mexican-American actor, whose career took a significant turn in 2019 when he began portraying the character of Diego Hargreeves in the Netflix series The Umbrella Academy.
Born in Los Angeles, Castañeda spent his formative years in Sinaloa, Mexico, where he was raised. At the age of 14, he made the move back to the United States, settling in California, where he attended William Workman High School.
Initially, Castañeda's academic pursuits were geared towards a career in civil engineering, with the intention of eventually taking over the family business. However, his interests shifted in 2007 when he enrolled in film production and international business at California State University, Fullerton.
Castañeda's fascination with film direction led him to major in this field, and he subsequently began to pursue a career in acting. While juggling part-time studies with his acting endeavors, he eventually graduated in 2015, marking a significant milestone in his journey as a professional actor.
