David Hoffman, a talented individual, was born in Philadelphia and spent his formative years growing up on various U.S. Army bases. He later pursued a classical acting education at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he earned his high school diploma, and Boston University, where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Following his academic achievements, Hoffman underwent rigorous training at The Groundlings School in Los Angeles, joining the Sunday Company in 2006 and the Main Company in 2008. During his time at The Groundlings, he wrote and performed hundreds of original sketches and improvisational comedy pieces. Concurrently, he began appearing in television commercials, including several Super Bowl advertisements, and landed guest roles in numerous films and television shows, such as Bridesmaids (2011),2 Broke Girls (2011),and the improvised Western series Quick Draw (2013),in which he had a recurring role.
In 2014, Hoffman was cast as the lead in the UK sitcom I Live with Models (2015),playing the character of Tommy, a hand model who shared an apartment with "real" models. This was followed by guest appearances in the United States on Modern Family (2009),Bones (2005),and Castle (2009). In 2017, he portrayed a volatile writer for Johnny Carson in the series There's... Johnny!.
In 2019, Hoffman began starring as Doug in Liberty Mutual's "Limu Emu & Doug" advertising campaign.
As a writer, Hoffman has made significant contributions to various projects. He wrote multiple episodes of Mike Tyson Mysteries (2014),and created a web series called "George Washington is Here to Help," featuring himself as George Washington, attempting to assist America during the pandemic. He also developed an animated series based on his childhood, titled "Army Brat."
