Edwin Thomas is a renowned British actor and screenwriter who has gained international recognition for his outstanding performance as Robbie Ross in The Happy Prince, a film that stars Colin Firth, Rupert Everett, and Emily Watson.
Thomas's portrayal of Robbie Ross garnered widespread acclaim, earning him a nomination as a 'Screen International Star of Tomorrow' in 2018. Critic Guy Lodge from Variety praised Thomas's performance, stating that his "weary, take-and-take relationship with his client, friend, and sometime lover gives the film its most quietly moving thread, buoyed by Thomas's stoic, softly sorrowful performance." As a result, Thomas was selected as a Screen International Star of Tomorrow.
Thomas is a wheelchair user who has Cerebral Palsy. Due to the complications caused by his condition, he faced significant challenges in pursuing an acting career early on. Instead, he worked in education, teaching English and French. However, using The Feldenkrais Method, Thomas was able to recover and is now a certified instructor, teaching this technique to athletes and performers.
In addition to his work in The Happy Prince, Thomas has recently taken on main roles in Victoria (2018),Into the Night (2020),Invasion (2021),and The Laureate (2022). He is also set to star in the upcoming Netflix series 'Bodies'.
