Person Biography:
Eric Bischoff was born on May 27th, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan, USA. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and a minor in radio, television and film. After running a successful construction company and pitching low-level marketing ideas to buyers, Bischoff joined the American Wrestling Alliance (AWA) in the late 80s. He later joined World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1994 and became Senior Vice President, where he made significant changes and signings that helped the company thrive.
Bischoff's tenure at WCW was marked by several notable achievements, including the creation of WCW Nitro, a live prime-time show that competed directly with the WWF's Monday Night Raw. He also declared war on the WWF by giving away results to their taped shows and publicly insulting their direction. In 1996, he revealed that Scott Hall, a WWF main-eventer, was working for WCW, leading to the creation of the New World Order (nWo),a heel faction that helped WCW secure its spot as the top wrestling promotion in America.
Bischoff continued to play a key role in WCW's success, but eventually left the company in 1999. He was brought back in 2000, but after disputes with creative director Vince Russo, he quietly walked away after seven weeks on the job. He returned again in 2000 with financial backers to purchase WCW from Time Warner, but the deal was allegedly sabotaged, and he lost the company to the WWF.
In 2003, Bischoff was hired by his old rival Vince McMahon as an on-air talent in the WWE. He currently resides in Scottsdale, Arizona with his wife Loree and two children, Garett and Montanna.
