Person Biography:

Ashley Foster is a renowned director, filmmaker, and award-winning director, known for her work in the film industry. Born and raised in a creative environment, Foster earned her BFA at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where she studied for three years under the guidance of the Atlantic Theater Company.

With over a decade of experience in the industry as an actor, Foster co-founded Detroit Street Films, an independent film production company dedicated to creating a community of filmmakers to collaborate on micro-budget films. In its inaugural year, the company produced over a dozen films, including Foster's directorial debut, "Brick & Mopsie," a gritty short film about possessions and priorities.

Foster's most notable directing work to date is the award-winning short film "Made Public," starring Jeanine Mason and Josh Zuckerman. The film premiered in 2019 and has been screened at over 40 festivals worldwide, including Palm Springs, Cinequest, Cleveland, and many more. The film has received 15 nominations and 12 awards, including Best Film, Best Director, and the Audience Award at the Bentonville Film Festival.

In addition to her work on "Made Public," Foster has also directed the short films "Waffles" and "Platypus," which have screened at numerous festivals around the world. She was also one of six directors selected by the Alliance of Women Directors for the inaugural AWD Short Film Initiative, creating a short film in collaboration with the Shoot 'Em Up film series. The resulting film, "Mía," premiered at Disney Studios.

Foster's additional credits include the short films "Dame," winner of Best Actress at the Chelsea Film Festival, the pilot presentation "Love Scenes, LLC," and a four-part web series created with author Mara Altman titled "Gross Anatomy." She recently completed the comedic short "5 Stages of Grief" and is attached to direct the feature "Bringing Up Joan," written by Alexa Alemanni and Joseph Boothe.

Foster is an alumna of the Ryan Murphy HALF Initiative, co-founder of Something Wilde Productions, and member of the Los Angeles Women's Film Collective. She serves as a mentor for the Women of Color Filmmakers program and is represented by Fourth Wall Management.
