Gerald Randolph Opsima Anderson Jr. was born in Subic Bay, Zambales, Philippines, to his Filipina mother, Evangeline Opsima, and his American father, Gerald Randy Anderson. He has a younger brother named Kenneth and two older sisters, Jen and Darling, from his mother's first marriage. When Gerald was just three years old, he and his family relocated to San Antonio, Texas. However, they moved again to Missouri when he was six years old. At the tender age of 14, Gerald and his family made the decision to move back to the Philippines, specifically to General Santos City, a place that Gerald now calls home.
It was during his teenage years that Gerald was discovered by Joross Gamboa, who then introduced him to his manager, Jun Reyes. Reyes brought Gerald to ABS-CBN, where he joined Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition. After gaining fame on the show, Gerald was paired up with his fellow housemate, Kim Chiu, who later became his "love team" for various shows, movies, and endorsements. Together, they took the Philippines by storm, being hailed as the next big thing in the entertainment industry. Fans even dubbed the pair as Kimerald, even before they left the reality TV show.
Gerald is set to star in a new TV show called Sineserye Maligno alongside Philippine A-lister Claudine Barretto, as well as his love team, Kim Chiu, and another TV show called Nagai-Aida with Philippine veteran Maricel Soriano, Cesar Montano, and Kim Chiu.
