Ivan Mbakop, a multifaceted American actor, film director, and application designer, was born on October 15th in Yaoundé, Cameroon. He is the eldest of three brothers and the son of a Supreme Court Justice and a High School Vice Principal.
Growing up, Ivan's academic prowess earned him a spot at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU),Tuskegee University, where he pursued a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. During his time at the university, he met his future wife, and they got married in 1999, subsequently relocating to Atlanta, Georgia.
Ivan's foray into the arts was an unexpected one, as he stumbled upon a dance and drama class his wife was attending, which led him to explore his creative side. He soon landed his first acting gigs, appearing in commercials for Cox Communications and Coca Cola.
His early acting credits also included a music video for Canton Jones' Kingdom Business in 2009 and a lead role in the theatrical performance Christmas in Cambridge that same year. His portrayal in Baby Mama's Club in 2010 marked the close of a successful year for his acting career.
Ivan took a break from the stage to focus on his business ventures, which he pursued for seven years. He eventually returned to the entertainment industry with a strong directorial debut in Victus in 2017, a project he conceived. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in his career, which would see him take on multiple projects.
Ivan's television debut came soon after, in Valor, Season 1 Episode 5, where he played the role of Negotiator in 2017. He is currently making a name for himself in the industry not only as a talented actor but also as a technologically innovative producer.
Ivan resides in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife April Mbakop and their four children.
