Next person biography:
Jasi Lanier, a woman of many talents, took an unconventional route into the stunt industry. She began by modeling, acting in horror movies, and even performing as a fire-eater to pay off her student loans. After graduating from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Media Arts, she moved to New Jersey to shoot a movie and met her co-star Joseph Anthony, whom she fell in love with.
Jasi continued to study acting in New York City, honing her skills with Olinda Turturro and Enzo Carlin, and performed in numerous indie films. She also met artists Dave Nestler and Dorian Cleavenger at Pittsburgh Comicon, which led to her career as an art model for comics, fantasy, pinup art, and romance novels.
Notably, she was Joe Jusko's Tomb Raider model for Top Cow comics for several years, featured on the cover of Heavy Metal Magazine in August 2003, and Heavy Metal Calendars by Greg Hildebrandt in 2005/2006. She has modeled for over 300 paintings to date.
However, Jasi soon realized that her true passion was to become a stuntwoman, inspired by her Uncle Dusty's live stunt shows in the 60s/70s and articles about stuntwomen in Femme Fatales magazine. She worked in stunts for independent movies and industrials before making the big move to Los Angeles in 2005.
In LA, Jasi joined a stunt service, trained at the Bob Yerkes backyard, and got her SAG card through background work on 2 1/2 Men. She then started training in high falls, fights, swords, and reactions, and landed her first job on the show iCarly doubling a 14-year-old boy.
Jasi has since worked on numerous shows, including Alice in Wonderland, Castle, Raising Hope, Vampire Diaries, and Criminal Minds. She has also made a resurgence in acting, appearing in the short film Broken and a female "Jack Ass" style stunt show called Cherry Bombs.
In addition to her stunt work, Jasi has volunteered and served as a department head for Stuntacular, a live Halloween stunt show that raises funds for Make a Wish. She is also an assistant board member for Diamond in the Raw/Stuntwomen's Awards and secretary for the Stuntwomen's Foundation.
Jasi continues to train in Kung fu, will test for black sash in 2012, and has certifications in PADI Rescue Diver, weapons, swords, acrobatics, boxing, and stunts. In her free time, she enjoys roller-skating, tai chi, hula hooping, rock climbing, rappelling, and hiking. Her life philosophy is to collect experiences, as taught by her father.
