Jim McCaffree, a native of Central Illinois, embarked on a remarkable journey, traversing a diverse range of pursuits and settings, from the stage to the courtroom and back again. Initially, he pursued a degree in theatre at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, laying the groundwork for a future career in the performing arts.
After graduating, he decided to take a bold detour and attend law school, an unexpected turn that would later influence his future endeavors. However, his time in law school was relatively short-lived, and he soon found himself relocating to Chicago, where he discovered a newfound passion for improvisation, a creative outlet that would become a defining aspect of his artistic identity.
He enrolled in classes at esteemed institutions such as Second City, IO, and the Annoyance Theatre, honing his skills in tiny storefront theatres, where he could perfect his craft and connect with like-minded individuals. As his thirst for adventure and creative expression continued to grow, he packed his bags and headed to Los Angeles, where he continued to perform improvised theatre at the now-defunct Hothouse Theater, further refining his skills and expanding his artistic horizons.
Jim McCaffree's extensive background in the world of comedy led him to take the plunge and attempt stand-up comedy, a decision that would eventually merge seamlessly with his pre-existing skills in character acting to enable him to craft his debut solo show.
Jim's inaugural production, aptly titled Jim McCaffree - National Treasure, premiered at the esteemed Whitefire Theatre's Solofest in 2024. The show's impressive run was capped off with the prestigious Encore Award, a testament to its enduring appeal.
National Treasure's successful debut was followed by its Off-Broadway debut at the illustrious United Solo Festival, further solidifying its status as a standout production.
