Biography

Jimmy McNichol, also known as James Vincent McNichol, III, is a multi-talented individual who has made a name for himself as an actor, musician, and environmentalist. As the co-partner of Playground Television, Inc., he has been involved in various entertainment projects.

Internationally recognized, McNichol was a teen heartthrob and one of the most popular actors in the entertainment industry from the late 1970s to the early 1990s. He has maintained an international fan base, with many young people discovering his old work and becoming new fans. Recently, he was named the celebrity spokesperson for the nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation "Pet Power Kids."

Throughout his career, McNichol has appeared on numerous magazine covers and starred in top TV and film productions. He has had several network TV shows and feature films created just for him and has co-produced a CBS network variety special with producer Jerry Weintraub. He has also worked with numerous Academy Award winners and nominees, including Jill Clayburgh, Shirley Knight, Richard Jaeckel, and Susan Tyrrell.

In collaboration with "Pet Power Kids," McNichol and Playground Television are developing a TV series documenting animal rescue and animal issues, titled "Animal Rescue The Rockies" or "ARTR." This animal welfare TV show documents the process and suspense of rescuing animals in the Colorado Rockies, with a segment dedicated to the Pet Power Kids' 501(c)(3) corporation and its mission to save older shelter dogs and older shelter cats that are unlikely to be adopted and would have been euthanized.

As an active philanthropist and successful real estate developer, McNichol has been involved in various charitable endeavors. He is set to make his return to the entertainment industry later this year, after taking a two-decade hiatus to raise his children. His sister Kristy McNichol will be by his side to help him out whenever necessary.

During his absence from Hollywood, McNichol has spent time in France with his wife and children, while continuing to give rare concert performances. This year, he is releasing a new CD titled "EcoWarrior" under Aurora Entertainment's Ecology Music Group label "EMG," with part of the proceeds going to charity. He will also be performing at benefit concerts and giving away a free promotional video DVD sample to promote ecological awareness and philanthropy.

Notably, the feature film and cult classic that McNichol starred in with Oscar nominee Susan Tyrrell, "Night Warning," is about to be released on DVD. Additionally, he has a new DVD box set released in 2013 with Producer Roger Corman, which includes "Smokey Bites The Dust." In 2015, "Escape from El Diablo" was also released on DVD.
