Jonah Wharton, a multifaceted individual, was born in San Francisco and grew up in a unique environment, surrounded by an eclectic houseboat community of bohemian squatters just north of the city.
Wharton's journey in acting began while attending college in Los Angeles, where he discovered a classified ad for actors in the local newspaper. He soon secured an agent and landed a Burger King commercial, but it was a class with acclaimed teacher/mentor Aaron Speiser that truly ignited his passion for the craft.
With the same intense dedication he once displayed as a young athlete on the basketball court, Wharton pursued acting with unwavering commitment. His hard work paid off, and he landed his first television role on the Emmy-winning series "Californication" starring David Duchovny.
Throughout his career, Wharton has appeared on various TV shows, including "Castle," where he played a British mercenary bank robber, and "NCIS," "NCIS: Los Angeles," "Southland," "Rizzoli & Isles," and "Bones," among others.
Wharton can currently be seen in the role of Tex in the spy thriller "Special Ops: Lioness," from "Yellowstone" creator and Academy Award nominee Taylor Sheridan, alongside Morgan Freeman, Nicole Kidman, and Zoe Saldana. He has also recently appeared on ABC's "The Rookie."
On the film side, Wharton appeared alongside Riley Keough, Adrian Brody, and Jesse Eisenberg in "Manodrome," which premiered at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival and won the prestigious Gold Bear award.
When not honing his craft, Wharton is an avid reader of non-fiction, with his favorite book being "Thinking Fast and Slow" by Daniel Kahneman. He still enjoys playing basketball in his spare time, a testament to his enduring passion for the sport.
