Julia Morris is one of Australia's most accomplished and celebrated performers, known for her versatility and range in both stage and screen performances. With over 34 years of experience, Julia has seamlessly transitioned between the stage and screen, showcasing her talents as a quadruple threat.
Julia began her career at the age of 17, singing on the talent show New Faces, and by the mid-1990s, she had become a household name as a headlining stand-up comedian and actor. She starred in various TV shows, including Full Frontal, In Melbourne Tonight, and Beauty and the Beast, as well as the Melbourne run of the hit Broadway musical 'I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change!'.
As a stand-up comedian, Julia has performed at every major comedy festival in the world, sharing the stage with renowned comedians such as Whoopi Goldberg, Richard Pryor, and Robin Williams. She has also appeared on various British sitcoms, co-hosted Liquid News on the BBC, and featured on comedy panels including Stephen Fry's QI.
Julia's solo show won the prestigious Herald Angel Award at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival in 2001, and she also won Time Out London's 'Comedy Performer of the Year' award. After giving birth to her first daughter, Ruby, in London, Julia and her family relocated to Australia in 2008, where she won Channel 7's celebrity singing show It Takes Two with her husband, Australian Opera star David Hobson.
Julia gave birth to her second daughter, Sophie, in 2008 and published her memoirs, 'Don't You Know Who I Used To Be?', in 2009. She then relocated her family to Los Angeles, where she studied with Hollywood acting coach Lesly Kahn.
In 2011, Julia returned to Australia to become the first Celebrity Apprentice, raising nearly $200,000 for breast cancer research. She was then cast as the female lead, Gemma Crabb, in the Nine Network drama House Husbands, a role she held for five years.
Between 2013 and 2015, Julia hosted various TV shows, including Nine Network's Australia's Got Talent and Network Ten's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! with Dr Chris Brown. She has also appeared on reality TV shows, including The Masked Singer and Chris and Julia's Sunday Night Takeaway.
In 2021, Julia released her Audible original, Julia Morris Makes it EASY, as an audiobook and paperback. In 2022, she returned to host Season 8 of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! Julia currently resides in Melbourne with her daughters Ruby and Sophie, and their dogs, Tootsie and Ken.
