Justin Chu Cary was born and raised in Oakland, California, where he developed a passion for visual arts at an early age. He is a Lifetime Member of The Actors Studio and has had a diverse career in the entertainment industry.
Cary's early success in visual arts led him to win a statewide competition in both 4th and 6th grade. He continued to pursue his creative interests at Berkeley High School, where he ran track and was the captain of his wrestling team. His academic achievements earned him a spot at the University of California, Davis, where he studied Sociology, Theater, and Visual Arts.
After graduating from UC Davis, Cary moved back to the Bay Area and became heavily involved in the local theater scene. In 2009, he made the move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film and television. Initially, he made a living through visual art, graphic, and web design jobs, while also booking commercial and modeling campaigns for companies like Nike, Target, Footlocker, and Ford.
Throughout his early career in LA, Cary remained committed to his passion for theater, appearing in numerous stage productions, including "The Meeting," "The Death of The Last Black Man In The Whole Entire World," and "In The Red and Brown Water." He also studied and performed with the Upright Citizens Brigade and The Actors Gang, and continues to explore his craft at the prestigious Actors Studio.
Cary's television debut came with a recurring role on the NBC soap opera "Days of Our Lives." He has since made co-star and guest-star appearances on popular shows like "Jane the Virgin," "Supergirl," "S.W.A.T.," and "NCIS." His first feature film was "Blindspotting," a project written by and starring lifelong friends and fellow Berkeley High alumni Rafael Casal and Daveed Diggs. He continues to work with them on the Blindspotting series on STARZ, where he has a recurring role.
