Keith Morrison was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan in the year nineteen hundred and forty-seven. He pursued his academic endeavors at the University of Saskatchewan, where he earned his bachelor's degree in history in nineteen sixty-six. Keith commenced his professional journey in journalism in nineteen sixty-six as a reporter for The Star Phoenix in Saskatoon, marking the beginning of his illustrious career.
Subsequently, he held a multitude of television anchor and reporting positions across Canada at various esteemed institutions, including CFTO-TV in Toronto, CHAN-TV (now BCTV) in Vancouver, and CFQC in Saskatoon. Additionally, he served as the news anchor for "Canada A.M.," a national news-and-information television program produced by CTV, from December nineteen seventy-three to January nineteen seventy-five.
From January nineteen seventy-five to February nineteen seventy-six, Keith held several positions as a mid-Canada correspondent for CTV News. He then served as anchor and reporter for CTV News from February nineteen seventy-six to July nineteen seventy-nine, followed by a stint as national affairs correspondent and anchor for CTV News from July nineteen seventy-nine to June nineteen eighty-two.
Morrison went on to hold a variety of correspondent and anchor positions with the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC) from nineteen eighty-two to nineteen eighty-six. Notably, he was a correspondent and anchor for CBC's "The Journal," a nightly news and current affairs program, from November nineteen eighty-four to July nineteen eighty-five. Keith played a pivotal role in the development of "Midday," the network's first daytime news and interview program.
In nineteen eighty-six, Keith was hired as a NBC News Correspondent, based in Los Angeles. He has since covered a wide range of breaking news stories on the West Coast and in Asia. Morrison was reporting from China in May and June nineteen eighty-nine when the student rebellion in Beijing and the Chinese military reaction occurred.
Keith is married to Suzanne Perry Morrison, a writer, consultant, and political fundraiser who was also press secretary to then Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. Through marriage, he became stepfather to the renowned actor Matthew Perry, star of the popular television show "Friends."
