Kodi Smit-McPhee embarked on his acting journey at the tender age of nine, subsequently dropping out of high school in his first year to pursue his passion for acting. He currently resides in Los Angeles, alongside his father Andy McPhee, a fellow actor, and sister Sianoa Smit-McPhee, also an actress.
