Krishnendu is a BAFTA-winning Film & TV producer, with a prolific career spanning multiple genres and formats. He recently produced the feature film 'Close To You', directed by Dominic Savage and starring Elliot Page, which world-premiered at the Special Presentations section of the Toronto International Film Festival 2023.
Krishnendu co-runs Me+You Productions with Richard Yee, and their recent credits include the 6-part drama series 'Alice & Jack', produced for Channel 4/PBS Masterpiece and starring Andrea Riseborough, Domhnall Gleeson, Aisling Bea, and Aimee Lou Wood.
He has also produced the acclaimed 'I Am Ruth', a Channel 4 film directed by Dominic Savage and starring Kate Winslet, which won multiple awards including two BAFTA awards for single drama and Lead Actress, as well as a Royal Television Society Award. The 'I Am' anthology series, also directed by Dominic Savage, has been acquired by HBO in the US and features a diverse cast of actresses, including Lesley Manville, Letitia Wright, Suzanne Jones, Samantha Morton, Vicky McClure, and Gemma Chan.
Krishnendu's other notable credits include creating and producing the international EMMY-winning comedy 'Hoff the Record', starring David Hasselhoff, Brett Goldstein, and Asim Chaudhry; co-creating the BAFTA-nominated global hit 'An Idiot Abroad', starring Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, and Karl Pilkington; executive producing two series of comedy drama 'Sick of It', two series of 'The Moaning of Life', and a feature documentary 'End to End', starring George Ezra, for Amazon.
In addition to his work in television and film, Krishnendu has also produced the Royal Television Society-winning 'The Dali and the Cooper' for Sky, directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard and starring David Suchet and Noel Fielding.
Early in his career, Krishnendu worked as a documentary maker, directing films such as the BAFTA-nominated polemic 'Who you callin' a N***er?' for Channel 4 and the major political profile 'Michael Howard: No More Mr Nasty' for BBC 2.
Krishnendu studied English and Drama at Bristol University before winning a scholarship to pursue a postgraduate journalism diploma at Cardiff University. He then trained on the ITN News Trainee Scheme, working on ITV News, Channel 4 News, and 5 News, and the prestigious BBC Production Trainee Scheme, where he worked across the BBC, including BBC Film, Radio Drama, Newsnight Review, and the Arts Department.
In June 2023, Krishnendu completed his three-year term as Chair of BAFTA, having been involved in various elected roles in the Academy for 18 years. During his tenure, he led the BAFTA 2020 Review, which resulted in over 120 ground-breaking changes to awards campaigning, voting, and membership, marking a cultural shift at BAFTA towards greater inclusivity and diversity. Krishnendu has been selected four times by the Variety V500 list as one of the influential business leaders shaping the global media industry.
