Lars Simonsen's acting career began with a remarkable performance as the sensitive teenager Erik in Bille August's film 'Tro, Håb og Kærlighed', earning him his first Robert award for best actor in a leading role. This breakout role paved the way for his subsequent appearances in films such as the comedy 'Når engle Elsker', where he played the shy son, and Bille August's Oscar-winning feature film 'Pelle Eroberen', where he portrayed the subdued son.
Lars has had a prolific career in theatre, performing at esteemed venues like the Betty Nansen Theatre and the Gladsaxe Theatre. Since 2001, he has been a part of the permanent cast of actors at Odense Theatre, where he has received critical acclaim for his performances in productions such as 'De Nøgne Træer', 'Erasmus Montanus', 'Helligtrekongers Aften', 'Pinocchios Aske', 'Den Gerrige', 'Mikaél', 'BLOD', and 'Odysseen'.
In 1998, Lars won the Robert award for Best Actor in a Leading Role once again, this time for his role as a lovestruck vicar in Nils Malmro's historical Faroese drama 'Barbara'. Since then, he has continued to act in both film and TV productions, including 'Manden som ikke ville Dø', 'Klinkevals', 'Skjulte Spor', 'Rejseholdet', 'Forsvar', and 'Forbrydelsen'.
Prior to his acting career, Lars graduated from Århus Theatres Acting School in 1990, laying the foundation for his future success.
