Manolo Caro is a multifaceted creative force, serving as the Creator, Executive Producer, and Director of the popular Netflix original series, The House Of Flowers. With a diverse background in film, theater, and script writing, Caro has honed his skills in various institutions across Mexico, Cuba, and Spain.
After studying architecture at TEC de Monterrey and Centro in Mexico City, Caro pursued a career in scene direction at San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba, and Estudio de Juan Corazza in Madrid, Spain. Prior to his career in film and theater, Caro worked in publicity for the transnational agency BBDO.
Caro's early projects as a filmmaker included short films, with his most prominent work being "Gente bien atascada." He made his debut in theater directing and writing with "No sé si cortarme las venas o dejarmelas largas," which became a box office phenomenon and was sold to different countries. He also wrote "Sin cura," "Un dos tres por mi y todos mis amores," "I love Romeo y Julieta," and "Nunca es tarde para aprender frances."
Caro's film career began with the cinematographic version of "No sé si cortarme las venas o dejarmelas largas," which ranked third in the box office in its year of release. He continued to work on "Amor de mis amores" and co-directed the documentary "La fabulosa y patética historia de un montaje llamado I love Romeo y Julieta." Caro also co-directed the film "Elvira, te daría mi vida pero la estoy usando" starring Cecilia Suarez and Luis Gerardo Mendez, which premiered at several international film festivals and received widespread acclaim.
In addition to his work in film and television, Caro has acted as a jury member for the Netflix Awards, solidifying his position as one of the most prolific and popular directors of the moment.
