Mark's fascination with acting began at a young age, inspired by the captivating performances of Steve McQueen on the big screen. As a school student, he seized the opportunity to hone his craft at Oldham Theatre Workshop, where he co-founded the Damned Busters and honed his skills by performing at clubs, pubs, and even engaging in street theatre to earn his Equity card. Mark's early acting endeavors culminated in a small but significant role in the film "Number One," which ultimately led to his casting as Ian on the beloved BBC series Seaview.
Throughout the next few years, Mark worked extensively for Yorkshire television, Granada, and BBC Manchester, juggling a diverse range of projects that showcased his versatility as an actor. In addition to his work in film and television, Mark also branched out into theatre and commercials, with one notable role being the door-to-door salesman in the award-winning Harp Lager campaign.
As his career continued to flourish, Mark landed the iconic role of PC Phil Bellamy in ITV's Heartbeat, a character that would go on to become one of Britain's most beloved policemen. After sixteen years of bringing joy and dedication to the role, Mark decided it was time to hang up his uniform and explore new creative avenues.
Mark's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own production company, which he used to produce and direct his first short film, "To the Sea Again," in 2006. The film received widespread acclaim and went on to play at numerous festivals, ultimately taking Mark to Hollywood for the final of Moondance 2007.
