Matschke's academic journey began with a pursuit of German and theology, aiming to become a teacher, but he ultimately abandoned his studies and instead enrolled in an acting school in Berlin, graduating from the prestigious Berlin University of the Arts.
He began his professional acting career in various independent Berlin theater projects, honing his craft and building his reputation. This hard work paid off when he secured a permanent engagement at the renowned Volksbühne Berlin in 1996.
Subsequently, Matschke's stage presence took him to Hamburg, Frankfurt, Zurich, and Salzburg, further solidifying his status as a skilled and versatile actor. In 2004, he made his mark as a director when he brought the stage version of Billy Wilder's iconic film comedy "One, Two, Three" to life at the Hebbel Theater in Berlin.
In tandem with his successful stage career, Matschke has made numerous appearances in around 30 well-known TV productions since 1995, showcasing his range and adaptability. He has also secured recurring roles in numerous top-tier German TV series, cementing his status as a talented and accomplished actor.
