Maximilian Dirr, a multifaceted individual born in 1983 in the charming city of Landshut, has had the privilege of growing up in both Germany and Italy, allowing him to develop a unique cultural identity.
Dirr's academic pursuits began at the esteemed University "La Sapienza" in Rome, where he studied English and Spanish from 2004 to 2007. He then decided to focus on his passion for acting and enrolled in the prestigious Genoa's National Theatre Academy "Teatro Stabile di Genova", which he successfully completed in 2010.
Following his studies, Dirr joined the ensemble at the Teatro Stabile di Genova, where he appeared in numerous productions, honing his craft and gaining valuable experience.
Before making his mark on German television with the critically acclaimed ZAPPELPHILIPP, which won the FIPA d'Or Award for Best TV Film Award in 2013, Dirr had already appeared in several Italian film and TV productions. This led to a string of national and international productions, including Ridley Scott's pilot for the thriller series THE VATICAN (2013),a lead role in the crime series KOMMISSARIN LUCAS (2014),and the dystopian BBC mini-series SS-GB, directed by Philipp Kadelbach, among others.
Dirr's first film role was in 2012 alongside the esteemed Geoffrey Rush in Giuseppe Tornatore's drama THE BEST OFFER.
In 2017, Dirr appeared in the German comedy MARIA MAFIOSI, directed by Jule Ronstedt, and in 2018, he starred in the based-on-true-events war drama SOBIBOR, directed by Konstantin Khabenskiy, which tells the powerful story of an uprising in the Polish extermination camp in 1943.
Dirr celebrated his first world premiere at the 75th Venice International Film Festival with Mario Martone's drama CAPRI REVOLUTION, which was part of the official competition program.
