Michael Gelbart is a multi-talented individual who has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry as a screenwriter, producer, comedian, and host. Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, he later relocated to Toronto during his teenage years.
Michael's journey in comedy began in high school, where he started performing stand-up comedy. He continued to hone his craft while attending Seneca College's School Of Communication Arts, where he majored in Broadcast Journalism and graduated with high honors.
Following his graduation, Michael landed his own 30-minute prime time special, "Comics!", on CBC television and a second special, "Comedy Now", on CTV/The Comedy Network. Both specials were rebroadcast on Comedy Central. His writing career took off when he became the head writer for the Canadian Screen Awards, and he went on to write dozens of episodes for various television series, including Disney, Teen Nick, Cartoon Network, CBC, Nickelodeon, and Starz. He also served as a creative consultant for several full seasons of television shows and even played a fictional version of himself as a lead guest character in one case.
As a screenwriter, Michael has written multiple feature films and pilots, many of which have been optioned. He co-starred in the holiday movie "A Very Cool Christmas", which aired on Lifetime for several years before moving to streaming.
Michael's comedy career continued with appearances on CBS' "The Late Late Show", "Comics Unleashed", and the release of his new special "Michael Gelbart All New Smash Hits", which is available to stream on Prime, Tubi, and other platforms.
In addition to his work in comedy, Michael is also a published author. His novel "The Other Oprahs" was a Canadian bestseller and was adapted into a pilot script. He has released three comedy albums, "Hello Comedy Lovers", "14 Smash Hits", and "By Popular Demand", which are heavily featured on Sirius XM.
