Nicolas Cantu was born in Mexico City, Mexico, to a loving family, as the second of three children. His early life was marked by his remarkable alertness and social nature, which his mother noticed from a young age. As he grew, his outgoing personality and passion for acting became evident, with his first desire to be an actor expressed at the tender age of seven.
As a young boy, Nicolas couldn't contain his enthusiasm for performance, rehearsing self-created roles, routines, and voices at home and school. He participated in all school plays, including his first role in "The Bear Went Over the Mountain." This early exposure to the stage only fueled his desire to perform, and he soon began acting in industrial films and national commercials.
Nicolas's supportive mother recognized his talent and took him to Hollywood, where he landed an agent and secured a recurring role as Prince James in the animated series Sofia the First in 2012. This marked the beginning of his professional acting career, and he soon found himself landing numerous commercials, including multiple spots for Old Navy alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
He continued to work in television, with roles in Disney XD's Walk the Prank in 2016 and feature films such as Vikes and The Impossible Joy in 2017. Nicolas's talent didn't go unnoticed, and he went on to secure lead roles in the voice-over world, lending his voice to the beloved character Gumball in Cartoon Network's The Amazing World of Gumball in 2011.
In addition to his voice-over work, Nicolas has also landed recurring roles in Nickelodeon's Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie in 2017 and Dora and Friends: Into the City! in 2011. When he's not acting, Nicolas enjoys a variety of hobbies, including neighborhood basketball, skateboarding, drawing, and creating animation and comedy videos on his YouTube channel "Junky Janker." He is also close with his family, which includes his parents, two brothers, and three dogs.
