Noah Andrew Ringer is an American actor who gained fame for his portrayal of Aang in the film adaptation of the popular animated series, The Last Airbender. His acting career began after being discovered through an open casting call in Texas, where he was selected to play the lead role of Aang.
Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Ringer is a young taekwondo practitioner who has achieved a first-degree black belt rank with the American Taekwondo Association at the age of 12. He is proficient in various Eastern weapons and is a part of a taekwondo club that informed him about Paramount Pictures' open casting call for The Last Airbender.
For his audition, Ringer sent in a homemade video showcasing his martial arts skills, which caught the attention of the film's producers. After being signed for the movie, he joined the Creative Artists Agency and went on to attend the 2010 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards alongside his Airbender castmates Nicola Peltz, Dev Patel, and Jackson Rathbone to debut the new TV spot for the film.
During the awards ceremony, Ringer was interviewed by the Los Angeles Times about his experience working on The Last Airbender. He has also appeared in other films, including Cowboys & Aliens, where he played the role of Emmett.
