Omar Torres is a multifaceted individual, distinguished as an actor, musician, and radio personality, currently residing in New York City. His radio career began at ALT 92.3, formerly K-Rock, where he had the opportunity to work alongside legendary personality Howard Stern.
In addition to his radio endeavors, Omar has made a significant impact in the world of television, with recurring roles on all seasons of the popular series Manifest, as well as appearances on notable shows such as The Equalizer, Daredevil, Blue Bloods, and Sneaky Pete.
His film credits include the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival selection "The Outside Story", in which he shared the screen with notable actors Brian Tyree Henry and Sonequa Martin-Green. Another notable film, "PLOY", won numerous awards and was featured at the Cannes Film Festival's Short Film Corner in 2016.
Born and raised in Rockland County, just 20 minutes north of Manhattan, Omar hails from a diverse cultural background, being of Puerto Rican and Cuban descent, and is fluent in Spanish. His parents, Nancy Torres and Omar Torres Sr., instilled in him a passion for ice hockey, music, and films from an early age.
Omar's athletic pursuits began at the age of four, when he started skating. He went on to spend several years playing in the pro minor league ice hockey circuit, including a stint with the NHL's Edmonton Oilers minor league affiliate, The Odessa Jackalopes of the Central Hockey League (CHL),in 2006.
At the age of 11, his parents gifted him his first musical instrument, a drum set. As he transitioned to an apartment, he began learning guitar and singing. Since the age of 14, Omar has been involved in various rock bands, playing live, writing, and recording music. This experience led him to study Audio Engineering at The Institute of Audio Research (IAR) in New York City.
After making the difficult decision to leave professional hockey behind, Omar began studying acting at various studios in New York City and joined CBS Radio (now Audacy) in 2009. He spent several years working behind the scenes, helping with Nick Cannon's morning show and producing the afternoon drive, before being promoted to On-Air Personality. Today, he can be heard throughout the New York Tri-State area on 92.3 fm.
