Biography

Patrick 'Pat' Wilson is an American musician, singer, and songwriter, best known as the drummer and co-founding member of the alternative rock band Weezer, with whom he has recorded eleven studio albums, showcasing his remarkable talent and dedication to his craft.

Born in Buffalo, New York, Wilson was raised in nearby Clarence, where he was introduced to music at a very early age, making his first musical purchase, Barry Manilow's 1976 album This One's for You, and shortly after, attending his first concert, seeing Van Halen, which inspired him to start taking drum lessons.

By his senior year at Clarence High School, Wilson and his friend Greg Czarnecki began teaching the instrument, eventually amassing over 30 students, demonstrating his exceptional skills and leadership abilities.

After graduating from high school in 1987, Wilson attended a local college briefly, dropping out after one semester, before growing tired of the local music scene and moving to Los Angeles at the age of 21, at the urging of friend Pat Finn.

Upon arriving in Los Angeles, he joined the short-lived band Bush, where he met future Weezer bass player Matt Sharp, with whom he developed a lasting friendship.

Subsequently, Wilson started a band with Patrick Finn, Matt Sharp, and later Jason Cropper called Sixty Wrong Sausages, and was also a member of another band with future Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo called Fuzz, which dissolved within three months.

In 1992, Sharp reconnected with his former band-mates Cuomo, Wilson, and Cropper, and Wilson showed him material from his and Cuomo's '50 song project', which Sharp was pleased with and returned to Los Angeles to join the band, now under the name Weezer, consisting of Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson, and Jason Cropper.

Throughout his career, Wilson has demonstrated his versatility and talent, as a drummer, singer, and songwriter, and has been an integral part of Weezer's success, with his unique style and contributions to the band's music.
