Paula van der Oest is a renowned Academy Award-nominated director and screenwriter, celebrated for her captivating films that often receive critical acclaim and numerous award nominations. Her impressive body of work includes the critically acclaimed film ZUS & ZO, which earned a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2001.
Notably, her film ACCUSED made it to the Academy Award's shortlist in 2015, and her latest film TONIO, chosen as the Dutch entry for the Foreign Language Oscar, received widespread critical acclaim upon its release in 2016. This esteemed film was even nominated for seven Golden Calf Awards, including Best Film and Best Director.
In addition to her work in film, Paula van der Oest has also ventured into television, recently directing the second season of BBC's THE SPLIT. In addition to her work in film and television, Paula van der Oest is also the co-founder of production company Levitate, which she established in 2018 alongside Alain de Levita and Mark van Eeuwen.
