Phillip's early life began in New York City, where he was born, and continued in Allendale, New Jersey, where he grew up. His mother, Celeste Manfredini, is an Italian-American professional still life artist, and his father, Thomas A. Chorba, is a Hungarian-American executive recruiter.
Phillip's academic journey commenced at St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, New Jersey, where he actively participated in football, lacrosse, and powerlifting. He then pursued higher education at Union College in Schenectady, New York, majoring in Theatre, playing college football, and being a member of the Chi Psi fraternity.
During his sophomore year, Phillip took his first acting class while recovering from a football injury. Initially, he enrolled in the class due to its proximity to his dorm room, but he quickly developed a passion for acting.
Upon graduating, Phillip relocated to New York City to pursue an acting career. He honed his improvisation skills at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre from 2005 to 2008. On September 6th, 2008, he married his high school sweetheart, Dawn Olejarz. Shortly after returning from his honeymoon, he met Steve Beauchamp on the set of "Ugly Betty," who is now his acting coach and mentor.
Currently, Phillip resides in Astoria, Queens.
